Best language for crossplatform app with GUI [on hold]

I've decided to finally get rid of all Microsoft crap and switched to linux yesterday (It feels so good!)

I'm looking for a way to create a cross-platform app with a GUI using an open-source language.

I came across python with qt4 (or qt5). I give a thought to Java but it's a memory eater...

I'm wondering which other good options is available before starting my journey with those 2 and which tools are good to help me code. I'm currently using Eclipse for all my programming needs.
